Love her or hate her, Ronda Rousey is quickly becoming the 'face' of WMMA. Personally, I love her. In the short history of MMA and the longer one of Boxing, controversial fighters cause strife within the community, but ultimately promote the sport far beyond their quieter counterparts. Is it fair? No, but when the future of WMMA depends on sponsorship and large funds, a fighter like Rousey may save the sport from destruction.
Ronda Rousey may be behaving badly according to some, but all WMMA fighters are conducting themselves in a manner defiant to the laws of Emily Post and other proponents of traditional femininity. Rousey is an American Olympian and has already proven herself a force in the cage. Right now, my greatest desire is to see her and Cris "Cyborg" duke it out. Forget Miesha Tate for right now; let Ronda fight Cris!
So even if Rousey is perhaps being a bit of an upstart in her challenge of the incumbent champion Meisha Tate, let's not forget that bitch is a hell of a fighter.
I love that she says he hobbies outside of training include not moving!! if she were an animal she would be a crocodile .. so funny and awesome.
ReplyDeleteI do love Ronda Rousey - and you're right - before her, I only knew Gina and Cyborg. But now I know two more!
